Risk Assessment Education Expands in Latin America

Risk Assessment Course at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte
An inaugural course was developed as part of an activity of the North Brazilian University Network that is based on RISK21 tools and case studies. The course is directed towards training future environmental regulators, and it is anticipated that the course will become part of the regular university curriculum and will continue to evolve and expand its case study offerings each year. The first offering of the course was taught by Prof. Julio Navoni and E. Munarriz.

Hands-On Risk Assessment Training Workshops in Latin America
These workshops were targeted at national authorities responsible for pesticide registration and food safety. All sessions were conducted in person and included the development of country-specific case studies, led by Dr. Eliana Munarriz (University of Buenos Aires; HESI Board of Trustees). The following countries were involved in this initiative:

  • Honduras (May 2024)

  • Guatemala (July 2024)

  • Costa Rica (July 2024)

  • Argentina (November 2024)
